Finance: Cash Yoga

Can yoga, that millennial cure-all, also treat bad cash flow? Former yogi Brent Kessel thinks so. Kessel, founder of a top wealth-management firm, teaches "Yoga of Money" workshops at Yoga Works in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, Calif., exploring the semimystical relationship between people and their cash. "In yoga, you go inside and get close to yourself," Kessel says. "You also have to approach your own financial limitations with awareness." The two-hour sessions include guidance to "the path of awakening," Buddhist lessons about the yogic principle of self-observation and... how to prepare an accurate financial statement. So, easy does it with the Downward Dog. Just as stretching your leg too much can tear your hamstring, Kessel warns, over-stretching your paycheck can shred your credit rating.
